I wonder if they use the same exchange rate for calculating how many Rupees are equivalent to the amount you owe them in pounds. If it is then I'd be very tempted to send them monthly cheques in Rupees. If it isn't then they really are con men. My loan company expects $700 a month that is nearly 20% of my yearly income. I live in Arizona and wages here are very low. I was thinking of going back to school for a doctorate just to put off paying my loans, but then I would be in more debt. My friend, who is also paying student loans, says that if we lose an eye we will no longer be obligated to pay our loans. I am not sure if it is true and do not think I really want to find out.
